Job Description

GovCIO is seeking a UI/UX Graphic Designer to support Veterans Affairs (VA) Data Modernization efforts. This fully remote role within the United States involves creating slide decks, graphics, customer journey maps, and high-level screen designs such as sketches and wireframes. You will collaborate closely with GovCIO team members, business owners, and customers to shape the right product. Success in this position requires thriving in an Agile development environment, balancing time and scope to fit tasks into rapid iterations. Responsibilities are dynamic, addressing multiple customer priorities. Your main focus will be enhancing the presentation of VA briefings, slide decks, SharePoint pages, dashboards, and similar materials. Ideal candidates have experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs and familiarity with Agile Software Development. Key duties include: - Employing participatory design, creative brainstorming, and other techniques to collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, and product team members in an agile environment. - Ensuring applications meet IT Accessibility Standards. - Collecting and analyzing user research data to understand the user population, identify trends, and derive insights. - Mapping workflows, user paths, creating storyboards, wireframes, mockups, low- and high-fidelity prototypes, and writing UI specifications to support development across multiple applications and platforms. - Designing graphics, icons, and other visual elements as needed. - Evaluating designs using user-centric methods such as UI reviews and cognitive walkthroughs. - Staying current with trends in technology design and usability, sharing knowledge across teams. - Participating in working groups or meetings with application stakeholders to discuss user requirements and present wireframes and mockups.
